TERRAFORM

TERRAFORM is a performance-installation + nosh activation that explores the methods and practices of preservation. Inspired by these ancient traditions and the anticipation of what our future environment will be, I wanted to re-imagine the ways we preserve our food as these microbial futures. How methods such as fermentation, pickling and drying can be seen as world building.

Fermentation and drying is an alchemy that wields time into matter. These methods have been employed for thousands of years to help cure, stabilize and regulate our internal biomes. Like the act of terraformation, they use atmosphere, temperature, topography and ecology to create. Inspired by these ancient traditions and the anticipation of what our future environment will be, artist-scholar and vegan chef Aisha Lesley Bentham re-imagines the ways we preserve our food as microbial futures. Through a blend of tactile, olfactory and gastronomic forms, you are asked to allow the terraformation to happen within you.

All food is vegan, of course! You will also be able to experience the installation separately from the nosh activation.
